On-Campus Involvement

Wishmakers On Campus®

Wishmakers On Campus® is a program that is run at hundreds of colleges throughout the United States. The students involved work to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation® through various fundraising events. This money helps to grant the wishes of children who have a life-threatening medical condition. You can read more about the program at Make A Wish® America.

I joined this on-campus organization my freshman year, and it quickly became one of my favorites. Each semester we host multiple fundraising events, with the goal of granting a wish. Our regular fundraisers include bake sales, Wendy's, and t-shirt sales. During the Fall semester, Wishmakers On Campus® takes part in the Homecoming Day Parade at Bloomsburg University. In 2015, we received the 2nd place prize for our Aladin themed float! Our two biggest fundraisers are the annual Hot Dog Eating Contest and Pie-in-the-Face event.

Lambda Pi Eta

Lambda Pi Eta (LPH) is the Communication Studies Honor Society at Bloomsburg University. Our chapter has meetings throughout the semester that are academically focused. During the Fall 2016 semester, we have put together both a graduate and finance panel to answer any questions the members may have. LPH hosts a Speaker's Forum each year, which provides students campus-wide with the opportunity to present a speech on the chosen topic. This years topic is Environmental Justice, or, 'going green'.

Italian Club

I joined the Italian Club to be more involved on campus. The organization was created to embrace the Italian culture. We hold potlucks each semester and encourage everyone to bring a dish. The Italian Club works with other cultural clubs on campus, which is a great learning experience.
